FAQ FOR RESIDENTS
1. Do I have access to the phone? Am I allowed to bring my own phone?
Yes. Landlines are available for both making and receiving telephone calls at all houses. Any calls or phone numbers you need can be obtained from the Behavioral Health Coaches. It is a privilege for residents to bring their cell phones as part of their belongings.
2. Am I allowed to smoke?
Yes. Tobacco smoking is permitted in designated smoking areas outside the home. Resident's can discuss their options with their treatment team.
3. Are there any items I may bring with me?
The Mindful Care Residence offers the same quality of life as your own home. As with your own home, Mindful Care Residence offers the same level of comfort, and you may bring your own furniture and décor to decorate your room as you wish. You are welcome to bring electronics, games, books, and other items with you.
4. Will I have access to the internet?
Yes. Through our network connection, you are able to access the internet free of charge at Mindful Care. We encourage residents to make regular contact with family and friends via email or by phone. Emails and phone calls from friends and family are important ways to stay connected. Bringing your own computer or laptop is also an option.
5. Is it possible for me to receive packages and mail?
Yes. Everything that arrives for you, including letters, packages, and things of that nature, will be delivered daily to your house. Behavioral Health Coaches may be asked to oversee safety when packages are opened.
6. Are there private rooms available?
Yes. We have both private and semi-private rooms available at Mindful Care. It is possible that some people do better alone, while others find roommates a more enriching experience. Accommodations are determined by the availability of rooms, an assessment of student needs, and a personal preference.
7. What activities are there for residents throughout the day?
The residents are assigned a plan that outlines their likes and dislikes to facilitate the development of a daily structure that will assist them in achieving their objectives. Additionally, residents can attend groups hosted by Mindful Care and continue their education in their communities. In addition to regular work or volunteering, job placement can be included in the program. Residents come and go as they please during the course of the day just like at home.
8. Can I bring my pet?
Though we love animals here at Mindful Care, residents are not allowed to bring their own pets. Having pets inside the home could be very difficult for some residents with allergies to specific sorts of animals. It is possible to arrange a pet visit.
9. Do residents have a voice at how Mindful Care is run?
Yes! Residents are at the heart of the company. We build and improve upon your life at Mindful Care based on your voice. Throughout our programs, your feedback is incorporated into our regular meetings. Each resident is encouraged to take responsibility for daily household tasks, working together in a team effort in order to provide for the needs of each other and to manage day-to-day chores, meal planning, and grocery shopping. A unique aspect of Mindful Care is precisely this.
10. How does the admissions process work?
To begin, you must submit a completed application. After you contact the Intake Coordinator, they will gather more information from you, answer your questions, schedule the Admission Interview and Assessment, and review your application and any supporting materials. A face-to-face interview requires all documents to be submitted in advance.
11. For any additional questions, who should I contact?
If you have any questions, please contact our main office. If you have any questions, our administrative staff will be able to direct you.
12. Is there a limit to the length of my stay?
The length of your stay will depend on the goals, needs, and desires you have. Individuals can use Mindful Care as a stepping stone or as a more permanent residence and it is not a time-limited program.
